Bleary-eyed from staying up till after 4 watching the election results come in - didn't get to see anything as superb as Portillo being ousted (that was in '97, when I was a wee 14-year-old Doyle gleefully watching with the sound down while my parents were asleep) but Boris Johnson got interviewed and Paxo laid into George Galloway. ("We're joined now from his count in Bethnal Green and Bow by George Galloway. Mr Galloway, are you proud of having got rid of one of the very few black women in Parliament?")

ETA: Hmm. There seems to be a misconception on the [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho comm that the best way to get everyone to stop talking about the Doctor's sexuality is to continually make new posts with "stop talking about the Doctor's sexuality! You wouldn't care if you were getting regular blowjobs from a beautiful woman, like me and all other normal people!" (That's almost a direct quote, sadly. Unless you're a straight man you're automatically out of the normal club.)

Not just new posts. New, lengthy posts.

That comm was dropped on its head as a baby.

It all smacks of attention whoring. How many words do you need to say you're not going to talk about something?

And how about "I've never seen this, so I have no idea if anyone's basing any of this on stuff in the actual series, but I THINK IT'S WRONG ANYWAY."

I have so much love for Paxman now.

*hearts UK politics and journalists*

(I am glad I am not in the normal club of [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho people.)

*mourns* Nobody shares my great Portillo love.
Well, except Tories, of course, but one tends to forget about them.

Oh, and if you're putting off some DVDs til my arrival, then definitely let's say the first weekend in June! (Once you've checked you won't be out of the country by then, of course.) Rather than prolonging the torment.

I popped over yesterday to see some of the commentary on the dr. who community and was just shocked by it. If I were getting a blowjob by a beautiful woman, I wouldn't have time for anything else -- I'd be too busy wondering where my dick came from and experimenting everything possible with it in case it disappeared again. ;-)

It's a shame that, near as I can tell, about 3 trolls are taking advantage of the culture shock resulting from all the new sex-friendly fans joining the old-school community.

The taunting that's going on in comments, on both sides of the issue, doesn't make it a particularly attractive spot either.

Hey, I was a wee 13 year old doing the exact same thing! Funniest thing ever! Except my dad was watching too. IIRC, we did war dances around the telly at that point.

Oh yeah, and the Doctor_who comm made fandom_wank.

Hee! ::squishes Paxman hard::

I love that comm. I don't know whether I was more amused by the idea that having sex means that you stop wanting to think about it or discuss it, or that *anyone* posting to a Doctor Who internet community would be considered one of the 'normals' :-) I felt like saying 'trust me mate, I've met normals - they wouldn't claim you as one of their own' :-)

If aliens were asexual, Kirk sure would have been in for a lot of disappointments, wouldn't he?

Yikes. I fail to grasp why these dudes are so disturbed by the idea of the Doctor's sexuality...
