PROMPT: Connor's reactions post Not Fade Away
It was all gone. Everyone had insisted he stay away from Los Angeles but he just couldn’t. He had to know.
And that night he went, when he saw the rubble, the debris that looked so different when seen on TV, he wanted to cry. There could be no way anyone had survived, especially those who fought and won the battle.
He tried to remember where Wolfram & Hart had stood and as he approached, he saw a moving hand. The minute he could make out the ring on the finger he ran, relief flooding through him.
Angel had survived, and that was all that mattered.

PROMPT: Ride back to the office after the opening flamethrower scene in A Whole In The World. Fred, Wesley, Angel, Spike
As long as Fred held the bug, no one really wanted to get close to her, but, because Wesley loved her, he did.
“You’re sure it’s dead?”
“Would I lie to you?”
“Well…”
Fred swatted him with her free arm. “I love you like pancakes, Wesley, but…” She stopped. “Haven’t said that in a while.”
“Said what?” Spike said, turning around from the passenger seat.
“’Love you like pancakes.’ Used to say it to my Daddy all the time.” She smiled. “Anyway, sooner we get to the lab—“
“Sooner you’ll get that stinking bug out of my car?” Angel said.
“Yes, Angel,” she said, laughing.

It’s been how many years since I overheard Buffy and Giles talking about vampires in the school library? Yeah, I don’t know either. Too damn many I suppose.
The new slayers keep coming and going like yesterday’s news; good thing, because the evil, the monsters, they never stop.
And to beat all, Giles was called back to England for an emergency Council meeting, leaving me in charge of two Slayers, who are in charge of the newbie’s in training. Like either one of them have *ever* listened to me.
Just another day Watching, the only thing I’ve ever really been good at.

"You know," Giles says nervously, undoing his trousers, "rabbits honk as a sign of affection. It's a sort of, ah --" He clears his throat and makes an odd noise in his throat. "That sort of thing."
"Nice. You been practising?"
Giles notices that Xander's trousers are still done up, and frowns. "No."
"Huh." Xander pulls them down, his boxers with them, and says nervously, "Just so you know? Me either."
"This is probably an error in judgement," Giles says, taking off his glasses.
"Probably," Xander agrees, and takes the glasses from him, putting them on the nightstand and turning off the light.

Notes: Written for llaras for doyle_sb4’s Buffyverse drabbleathon. Set post-Not Fade Away.
She knew that it was wrong on so many levels but being with him brought her closer to Angel. It wasn’t as if Connor didn’t know that her lust for him was because of his father, he seemed resigned to the fact that he would always walk in his father’s shadow. Especially now that he had died while bringing down Wolfram and Hart. As she leaned into him, she couldn’t help but wish that he were Angel and not just his son. But there was something about him that drew her to him, and she wondered if she had the choice, which of the two she would pick.

Angel killed his sire for… a Slayer? Intrigued, Lindsey flipped to the relevant section. A photograph of the Slayer leapt off the page and burned itself into his brain. Hot damn, but she was beautiful.
Not that it mattered, of course. She was the love of Angel’s unlife and that made her a weapon. He would hone her into the stiletto that crippled Angel.
And if that process led Lindsey into her bed, so much the better.

Spike clutched his last crumpled cigarette. "I'd say you weren't the real Angel."
"What if I said I'd lost it. Hope. Because I let the mission go, and I didn't want them to see me fail."
"You're lying."
Angel was in front of him, close, breathing heavy, staring into his eyes, through them. "Maybe."
"Why?" Angel's lips smashed into his, sharp teeth making him bleed. Suddenly Spike's cheek was scraping the debris, bone feeling pain through flesh; Angel was his second-skin, and in his ear.
"Because lies are the only thing that keep me going."

"I was there. I'm telling you he wasn’t."
"You couldn't have possibly been there. The match was played in daylight."
Spike looked slightly abashed. "Well, that's not the point."
Buffy decided now was a good time to intervene. "Hey guys."
"Ah, Buffy." Giles paused. "Spike and I were just debating the merits of audiovisual recordings as opposed to the memory of a deluded vampire who spent most of the sixties intoxicated."
"Deluded?"
"Manchester united fan."
“Guys? Soccer?"

The one good thing about his new lifestyle, less Tweed to go to the dry cleaners. He was very happy to have Dawn and Buffy in London and was looking forward to introducing them to his lady friend tonight, hence the doing of the laundry.
“Need help with the folding, Giles?” Buffy asked as she and Dawn came in.
“No, almost done.”
“We can help,” Dawn insisted.
Buffy dived in and came up with a pair of silk boxers with Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” jacket art on them. She turned big eyes on him.
Giles just blushed.

Clearing up, Tara smiles at her, and she thinks about magnetism again.

Willow shot a glare toward the stairs where three teenage girls were trying to maneuver themselves into a position to hear and not be seen. At that glare, the girls scattered.
“Sorry, they’re…well they range in age from 16 to 21, but put them together and they’re as bad as thirteen year olds.”

Principal Snyder prided himself in being a straight man, in every sense of the word. His father had, at a very early age, taught him that miscreants and scoundrels got nowhere in life. That the only path for a man was one of discipline, and moral rectitude.
Which became quite the problem when Snyder realized his one true love, the reason of his existence, merited certain rules to be brok... like the very straightness his life had leaned on.
What is a man to do, when he's faced with the choice of love, going against everything one believes?
The answer is quite simple: You stick to the rules.
Re: For Marguerite_26
on 2005-04-20 06:19 am (UTC)That might explain a lot of his attitude problem...
The man does seem to have some hidden depth though every now and then.

When Oz was in Tibet learning to control the wolf, he often thought of Sunnydale. But when he thought of Sunnydale, he didn’t think of a blonde Slayer determined to break all the rules; nor did he think of a stuffy Watcher who somehow became the surrogate father. He didn’t think about a jokester whose laughs hid his pain; thoughts of a snarky reluctant ally never occurred. There were no thoughts of the ensouled vampire who fought beside them, all for the love of his Slayer.
No, when Oz thought of Sunnydale, he thought of a beautiful pink angora sweater.

Dawn picks up a paintbrush and draws a long red gash down her mother's favorite painting, but because of Buffy, Mom doesn't care.
Buffy is sick, or maybe dead. Whatever's wrong, it's making everyone focus on Buffy (like always). She hates that.
She closes her eyes. Worried.
She sees no one. She peeks around a corner cautiously. No one there either. And down a long hallway, and no one there, either. No monsters, no stupid-face big sisters.
No one.
"Mommy?"
No answer.
She tries not to panic but wherever she turns, spiderwebs and blood, and when she turns back, the empty hallways that mean she doesn't matter.

His own hands rested on Xander's hips, pulling him closer, close enough for Xander to grind against him, breathing hard between frantic kisses.
Neither of them heard the door opening, and only Giles heard the quiet, choked laughter, looking up to see Faith smirking at them. "Explains a lot," he thought he heard her mutter, but before he could apologize--or, in fact, before he could stop what Xander was doing--she'd gone.

Second Best Day of His Life
Drusilla always loved the rain. She liked to dance outside to the rhythm of the thunder and feel raindrops falling like little stars to land on her head.
Her Spike had left her alone that night, so she had no one to dance with. She found one pretty woman, but she tasted like old rose petals and didn’t like the rain. Dru was very disappointed until she noticed all of the light on the streets turn off like magic. Minutes later, people filled the streets, eager and scared and delicious.
She found Spike hours later in a crowd of people, grinning and looking lovely in a new black coat. Dru grabbed his hand and pulled him close. “Come see, my love. The lights have gone out and everyone wants to dance with me.”
