I was reading a bunch of Clex fic last night, as I sometimes do, and noticed a lot of it warned in the headers that it was "cliche fic". Suits me fine, since there's a certain type of Clark/Lex fic I'll eat up with a spoon (it tends towards long, humorous, slow relationship buildup and a tendency towards fanon characterizations, with Clark confessing he's an alien at some point and Lex being thrilled and protective, and the telling the parents, and Bo waving a shotgun. Yeah, I'm easy.) I started wondering, though, what the common cliches are. I would think "trapped in a confined space" (AKA cave-in fic) and "x and y are forced to pretend they're a couple" are the most popular, but I wasn't sure of others. Luckily, there's a kink and cliche challenge going on at the moment so I was able to find
thete1's handy list.
I don't know what it says about me that I love most of these.
I'm crossing my fingers for 'so-and-so pretend to be a gay couple'. Because I want to write Kennedy and Andrew going undercover as a straight couple (and definitely not falling in love with each other).

I'm very tempted by that challenge, but I know better than to sign up for anything right now when I'm so swamped trying to rescue my academic career.

(and thanks for the handy list link!)

Oh my heavens, chica, you must write this - sooner rather than later, I implore you.

Oh, me too! Me too! I bet it'll make C/W's first kiss look like a bodice-rippin' passion fest (or not - and I'm not sure which possibility is funnier).
