connorbeast is insisting that I update, since I'm at my parents' and he's Two episodes with lots of Foreman. This is happy-making indeed since I was complaining that he's the duckling we've heard least about. I like the friction between him and House (not in the slash sense. Well... maybe. Is there any House/Foreman around? I suspect that, like House/Cuddy, it would be a snarky delight.
So Wilson has a homeless brother. Hmm. I hope this comes up again. I liked House poking his nose into everyone's private lives.
Wilson: You don't need to know everything.
House: I don't *need* to watch The O.C., but it makes me happy.
I love that he loves The OC. I bet he's a Desperate Housewives fan.
I identify with Cameron so much it hurts. This is why I must never write her, because in my hands she would become the Sueiest Sue Who Ever Sued.
Two more episodes and I will be all caught up.

country!
A quick googling turns up this list of some of the biggest country songs/singers of that year. Every song in the Single of the Year list is one that you COULD NOT escape on country radio; I remember everybody was particularly gaga over LeAnn Rimes, because she was a beautiful itty-bitty 14-year-old with a huge voice and her first hit and everyone was like "OMG Patsy Cline recincarnated!!" I was obsessed with "Nobody Knows" by Kevin Sharp and the group Ricochet (I miss Ricochet!!) and Shania Twain, whose big first album came out the year before and shook things up (country singer from CANADA! showing SKIN in her music videos!) People were already bemoaning the death of country music and its decline into pop-music-degredation and obscurity. They have been moaning this since I was born. Oh well.
The namecheck of a poster of the Dixie Chicks' newest album in 2003 indicates that Fred's tastes in country (at least these days) probably don't run to the esoteric, obscure, or either deeply traditional or edgy. The Chicks have bluegrass roots but by now are pretty mainstream-to-fairly-liberal, musically and ideologically (there was a HUGE kerfluffle/bitchfight/backlash a couple years ago when the lead singer made a derogatory comment about President Bush in front of an audience & country music fans & artists lashed back, most prominently singer Toby Keith--gawd, I can't stand him now and I used to love him). The Chicks would've been singing as indie artists in 1996, but they didn't have their breakout radio hit until 1998 with "I Can Love You Better".
You can never go wrong with George Strait. He is mainstream-beloved-timeless, and at least three radio stations near my hometown have the schtick of playing one George Strait song every hour.

Those House fics you recommended? Gah. And Gah. And Gah again. Some of those were *brilliant*.
I am *not* going to get involved in another fandom. There will *not* be House fic from me. I am not going to waste the next three days searching high and low for more stories.
