Lost would be infinitely better if the polar bears wore hats. And there were musical numbers.

(I am watching the Brady Bunch Movie. I have a feeling most of this is lost on me, since I haven't seen the TV show, but I do like Marsha's best friend. The dad needs to hook up with Jonathan Kent in a fiesta of platitudes.)

I was about to ask how this was possible, but then I remembered you're in a different country and probably had a whole different set of omnipresent reruns on the TV after school when you were a kid.

But even with having seen it, the movie's pretty forgetable.

See, just by pop culture osmosis I knew the basic plot and the theme tune and the name of the housekeeper, the same way I've never seen Gilligan's Island or I Love Lucy or The Love Boat or whatever but reference them all the time... (Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and Happy Days are repeated here all the time, so those are the American shows I grew up with)

Pop Culture Osmosis is a powerful thing. And FWIW, I've never seen an entire episode of the Love Boat (slightly before my time -- at least, I don't remember it being on) or Gilligan's Island (just seemed stupid to me) either. I have seen a lot of the three shows you mentioned as beng common in Ireland, however. And the Brady Bunch.

What about if the polar bears did the musical numbers? Would it then be the best show ever? (How are you getting Lost, BTW? It doesn't come out over here until July)

I think all shows would be improved by musical numbers (or ninja penguins). I would cheerfully kill to get the members of the Desperate Housewives cast into a chorus line.
