In my relatively netless state (we have one connection at the moment and that's being used to download Desperate Housewives and is therefore slooow to load anything) I've been catching up on Lost. And one thing I want to say is: I would have watched this months ago if I'd known Harold Perrineau Jr was in it! Augustus! The only reason for watching the Matrix sequels!

And I just checked his imdb.com page to see what else he's been in lately that's managed to pass me by and I can't *believe* I didn't know he played Mercutio in Romeo + Juliet. My god, I was so in love with Mercutio when I was 13 but I haven't seen it since then and I didn't make the connection. Right, I know what I'm watching tonight, besides trawling the Lost communities looking for Michael fanfic.

I really liked it. I was pretty surprised since I didn't expect to get into it so much. I have to go unspoiled for this because for once I'm into it for the story rather than the characters - I love Sayid and Locke, quite like Jack, Charlie and Claire, actively dislike Kate and Sawyer and haven't made my mind up about the rest yet, and I don't particularly care one way or the other about any of the 'ships. But I love the setup, the mystery, especially the flashback to the psychic who put Claire on a plane knowing it was going to crash. (The thing with the baby is driving me nuts. Is she carrying the antichrist, did the baby actually die in the crash and now she's about to give birth to something else...) I loved that whole episode (two episodes?), actually. The dream sequence, Charlie being dead but then not, Ethan Rom. I'm sure everyone's already pointed out already that his name's an anagram of Other Man, but I have no idea if that means anything, much like Danielle writing the words of La Mer/Beyond The Sea over and over (I call X-Files shout-out). When they started taking the census I knew someone was going to be missing from the manifest but I was sure it was going to be Locke. I think he's on the plane before the crash, though, we went back and looked.

I'm curious how they're going to stretch this show beyond one season, and a bit wary of it sinking under the weight of its own mythology, like The X-Files. But mostly I want to know the answers and I need the next one downloaded yesterday.

On the Desperate Housewives front, someone must have written the AU where Bree married Richard Wilkins and Sunnydale became the most efficient Hellmouth in history, surely.

You know... I've been sitting there thinking "That guy looks like Mercutio" for what, like, four months now? And every time I go online I forget to check. So THANK you. [is unbelievably distractable and lazy]
Anyway, yes. Lost is ultra-cool.
