Ah, Archie. I made some scans from the first of the Americana trade paperbacks. There's a certain fish in a barrel feel to finding the gay in Archie, which is one reason why I Love It So.





I could explain what's going on with the pins and the drag but it's funnier out of context:




Then there's the issue with the boys vs. girls jitterbug contest. Where Archie gets into drag. And dances with Reggie. And Reggie gets into drag too. And Veronica dresses as a boy and dances with Betty. I tried to pick out a couple of particularly cracktastic brilliant frames from that one but I ended up just scanning the whole thing. Oh man. It's THE OTP. Even when I was a kid, I could sense they had something going on, much like Blair and Jo on the Facts of Life. Only, back then I just thought I really wanted to hang out with them.
