[Boris Johnson's] sacking is the culmination of a torrid few weeks for the one-time golden boy of the Tory Party.

His wit and charm coupled with a mean intelligence carefully hidden beneath a bumbling facade had seen him spoken of as a possible future leader.

:weeps: Boris as leader of the Tories? That would have been unspeakably glorious.

Ah, for me, Portillo's star will never wane.

I've always wanted Edwina Currie and Michael Portillo to get together, topple Parliament and jointly rule the UK. Think of the bebbies!

I would actually vote for either of those two if they hadn't been smart enough to get out of politics at the right time. And, er, if I were a British voter and all that.

I quite like the Tories, or at least, I like where I think they'll be in a decade or two. They seem to be heading towards libertarianism.
