I hereby declare this post an election-free zone. Not that I'm not obsessed with the count too, it's just that twice this morning someone in my labs has run in to tell everyone that George has won, and when everybody's clustered round to check CNN.com it's been found the messenger was looking at the 2000 election results, and I'm being driven mad. Tell me random crap, post porn, request porn, juggle, just no election stuff.

So. It's 2pm here so it's, what, 9am on the east coast? Virtual tequila, anyone?

I'm at home today, with workmen installing new windows in my house and I've been beguilding my time with this site (http://www.infopt.demon.co.uk/grub/grub.htm#daily), reading daily newspaper reports of daily life in the eighteenth century.

There's everything there from politics to entertainments to crime, but I'm currently reading 'missing' notices:

25-27 February 1707
Whereas a little reddish Dog, very fat, with a white Breast, and four white Feet, and a short Nose and Ears, was lost the 17th Instant from Mrs. Drayners House in the Strand, near St. Martin's Lane end: Whoever hath found, or taken up the said Dog, if they will bring him to Mrs. Drayners House aforesaid, shall receive five Shilings Reward.

I wonder if Mrs Drayner ever found her little fat dog?

You can find more ads for dogs and people gone missing on this page. (http://www.infopt.demon.co.uk/grub/missing.htm)

That's just the best site *ever*.

I hope she found the dog, because that story made me sad.
