A brief update on the state of me:

- haven't been online in a week (London=yay) so if any fic, kerfuffles or exciting events have been going on, let me know
- my laptop hard drive is apparently non-salvagable
- following from the above: quite a lot of stuff for my work - new brochure, a big advertising display and artwork I'd been doing - was on that hard drive. It hadn't been backed up all week. Right now I'm fucked and most probably fired. The second, not such a big deal since I was leaving in a couple of weeks anyway, but I really, *really* hate letting people down.
- also thinking about loss of fic, site stuff, email and everything else (crap, buffyverse1000 notifications: okay, can rebuild the masterlist from scratch but I have to redo all my work stuff and I don't have time, argghhh) is making me cry.

Dude, that sucks about your laptop! But I saw what happened, with the crashing and rebooting, and almost the exact same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I took it in, and they told me my hard drive was dead and unsalvagable too. But then I took it to a different place and they totally fixed it. I didn't lose any data or anything. Everything's fine.

So basically, make sure that really, really reliable people have taken a look and told you it's dead before you totally give up on it.
