Anybody know if there's a Jossverse equivalent of [livejournal.com profile] hp_essays or [livejournal.com profile] hp_fictalk? I'm loving the meta stuff on both those comms but floundering on the fact that I'm only a casual Harry Potter fan and don't know a lot of the minor canon points that are brought up.

Also, spam me.

Outside of LJ, there's the All Things Philosophical Board although that's largely shifted into Dumb Summer Mode. You might want to look at the archives though.

Academic articles are at Slayage. The discussion site Tea at the Ford is having technical difficulties but is well worth reading -- check [livejournal.com profile] superplin's LJ for updates.

They all sound interesting, I'll check them out. I've been having a lot of fun reading all the Harry Potter talk on various boards. My big problem is that my background's in science, I don't know anything about philosophy or lit crit and so a lot of the Jossverse essays I've seen have flown over my head.

I'm similar. I'm running on "wot I picked up from hanging out with Art students in cafes". It's enough for me to follow the argument but not enough for me to participate in most discussions. I find it easier to articulate my position through writing fic instead.
