Ahahaha. I love SFX. Their summary of Angel's history (as transcribed by deborahthejudge on BAPS):

Liam is sired by Darla, rises from the dead and eats his
family. He takes on the cooler name `Angelus' after his sister
mistakes him for an angel. Everyone else mistakes him for a Welshman.

And something I'm so pleased someone has pointed out:

Angel meets the poet Baudelaire. He implies that
Baudelaire wrote `Le Vampyr' about him. With lines such
as `Humiliate my soul, to make your bed my domain, I am bound to
your squalid whole, like a convict to a chain', it's safe to assume
that they weren't close friends.

Connor and Cordelia sleep together, as Angel watches. Yes,
you read that right – Connor has sex with his dad's girlfriend while
his father watches. The audience says "Ew" at the same exact moment
and a thousand car alarms go off.

After Fred spends many hours of overtime trying to cure Spike
of his ghostliness, he gets sent a box, which turns him corporeal.
Audience marvels at Joss Whedon's approach to plotting, while Spike
marvels at his ability to beat up Angel.

`1609 – The Master sires prostitute Darla who's relieved that she
didn't have to sleep with him.

1727 – Angel is born in Galway, Ireland, though then he was the less
catchy name `Liam'.

1753 – Boy meets girl, girl bites boy, boy becomes homicidal maniac.
Or rather, Liam is sired by Darla, rises from the dead and eats his
family. He takes on the cooler name `Angelus' after his sister
mistakes him for an angel. Everyone else mistakes him for a Welshman.

1764 – Angel and Darla invade the home of vampire killer Daniel
Holtz, murder his family and sire his daughter. Holtz doesn't like
it very much.

1850s/1860s – Angel meets the poet Baudelaire. He implies that
Baudelaire wrote `Le Vampyr' about him. With lines such
as `Humiliate my soul, to make your bed my domain, I am bound to
your squalid whole, like a convict to a chain', it's safe to assume
that they weren't close friends.

1860 – Angel travels to London and meets Dick Van Dyke's ancestor
Drusilla. Perhaps in penance for Van Dyke's future crimes, Angel
kills her family, drives her insane and sires her. What a charmer.

1880 – Drusilla sires Spike (she would, wouldn't she…) who joins
Angel's gang.

1894 – Angel and Spike encounter the Immortal in Rome, who promptly
beds Darla and Drusilla, much to the guys' outrage. In 2004, Buffy
sleeps with him too – he gets around, that guy.

1898 – Darla gives Angel a Gypsy girl for his birthday (in an
unusual answer to the age-old question "What do you give a man who
has everything?"). Her tribe respond by cursing Angel with a soul.

1900 – Angel leaves the gang during the Boxer Rebellion in China
after wrestling with his new guilty conscience.

1902 – Angel travels to New York. Rumours that he wanted to "Be a
part of it" are so far unconfirmed.

1920s – Chicago. Angel saves a puppy from being run over. Rolf
Harris would be proud.

1943 – Spike and Angel meet once more – on a Nazi submarine. They
don't kiss and make up; instead, Angel makes Spike swim home.

1946 – Angel plays tennis with Bugsy Siegel in Las Vegas.

1952 – Angel lives at the Hyperion Hotel, where a Thesulac demon is
killing people for kicks. Angel tells the demon, "Kill them all,"
because the hotel residents tried to hang him. Not one of his nobler
moments.

1960 – Angel meets the Rat Pack. Despite the fact that he has been
living on rats' blood for half a century, Angel doesn't eat them.
Perhaps Sammy Davis Jr was too scrawny.

1967 – Our hero gatecrashes Elvis and Priscilla's wedding. Instantly
becomes 100% cooler.

1970s – Angel is in a diner when a mugger fatally shoots the cashier
and runs away. Unable to resist, Angel take a swig of the just-dead
man's blood. The equivalent to having a big cream cake when you're
on a diet, we reckon.

1996 – Angel meets demon Whistler, who takes him to Sunnydale. Once
there, he sees Buffy Summers and instantly falls in love. Despite
the fact she's about 16 and he's 269. Pervert.

1997 – Buffy and Angel meet for the first time – officially, at
least.

1998 – Buffy turns legal and Angel celebrates by bedding her. He
experiences a `moment of perfect happiness,' loses his soul/brooding
ability, and pulls on some lovely leather trousers.

1998 – Angel's soul is returned, just as Buffy is about to kill him
to seal up a gateway to Hell. She kills him anyway. A few months
later, he returns, naked and feral.

1999 – After recovering from his berserker rage, Angel breaks up
with Buffy, takes her to her prom, then leaves for Los Angeles. Men.

1999 – Angel starts to work for the Powers That Be, after he meets
Doyle (a demon suffering from visions of the future). He bumps into
Cordelia and asks her to join his crime-fighting team. They make
enemines of LA's most powerful force for evil – the law firm Wolfram
& Hart.

2000 – Buffy visits Angel in LA, just as he's tainted by the blood
of a Mohra demon – which makes him human. They spend the day eating
ice cream, making out and sunbathing. However, Angel misses his
brooding, so chooses to become a vampire again.

2000 – First sign of the Shanshu Prophecy, which promises that the
vampire with a soul will be made human if he beats the coming
apocalypse. Which was great news for our hero, until Spike showed up
in 2004 and it looked as though it could be him…

2001 – Darla and Angel have sex, after he throws her through a
window. The foreplay does the trick and she falls pregnant.

2001 – Holtz returns after making a pact with the demon Sahjhan.
He's still not happy.

2001 – Darla gives birth to Angel's son Connor, staking herself to
release him. Angel almost stops brooding for a second.

2002 – Holtz snatches Connor and takes him to a Hell dimension.
Angel doesn't like it very much.

2002 – Connor returns from the Hell dimension as a surly teenager.

2002 – Cordelia and Angel declare their feelings for each other,
just before lucky in love Angel gets put into a box and dropped in
the middle of the ocean. Cordelia ascends to become a `higher
being', so she's not that bothered.

2002 – Wesley saves Angel from his watery grave. Despite which,
Angel can't forgive him. Despite the fact that everyone forgave him
for his acts as Angelus. The man knows how to hold a grudge..

2002 – Connor and Cordelia sleep together, as Angel watches. Yes,
you read that right – Connor has sex with his dad's girlfriend while
his father watches. The audience says "Ew" at the same exact moment
and a thousand car alarms go off.

2003 – In an attempt to defeat the Beast, Angel Investigations
summon Angelus, but keep him locked up in a cage, like Hannibal
Lector. Yeah, and Lector had a lot of trouble escaping when he
wanted to..

2003 – The Beast is defeated, just in time for new Big Bad Jasmine
to appear. Firefly fans rejoice, Angel starts shopping at the Gap.

2003 – With ex-squeeze Cordelia in a coma, Connor kills Jasmine and
Angel is offered a chance to give him a real childhood. The downside
is that Angel will have to take over Wolfram and Hart. He accepts,
and immediately regrets his decision. Especially when Spike turns up.

2003 – After Fred spends many hours of overtime trying to cure Spike
of his ghostliness, he gets sent a box, which turns him corporeal.
Audience marvels at Joss Whedon's approach to plotting, while Spike
marvels at his ability to beat up Angel.

2004 – Cordelia is `released' from her coma, to help Angel one last
time before dying. Despite being unconscious for the past year,
she'd had time to get a haircut and watch Kill Bill. Angel disposes
of old-enemy Lindsay and gets his groove back.

May 2004 – Angel the series ends…But will we ever know if Angel and
co survive that titanic battle with the horde?'

Oh, and there's a discussion on season 7 going on in this post if anybody wants to jump in.

Now see? I saw that magazine and didn't buy it. I must now rectify this and worship for the witty pieces of paper stapled together it is.
