Back at home, and my laptop's internet connection's still broken -

I installed Adaware and Spybot, and my system seems clean. It's letting me connect to the internet and when I go into the C prompt it's pinging okay, but it won't let me access any sites or get my email. I took a screenshot, here.

Going to email tech support but I'll probably have to ring them. It's an extortionate premium rate line, though, so I'm trying to avoid that if I possibly can. I hate being a techno-dunce.

I am so in love with Lupin. I'm not into the HP fandom: I've read the books and a couple of pieces of fanfic (literally a couple, I think Draco Dormiens and Draco Malfoy the Amazing Bouncing Ferret are the beginning and end of my HP fanfic experience.) Lupin never made a big impression on me. But... he's so lovely! Kevin said he looked like he's come straight from decoding Nazi spy codes in Bletchley Park. He's so straight-from-the-1940s. Which is about the only time I'm going to use the word straight in conjunction with him because his and Sirius's loveissopureOMG. I must download a million S/R fanfics. Now. Ah, recs? Would love some plot but such is my desperation I'll go for anything.

What else... my crush on Draco continues to rage. I love my snivelling, cowardly little blond boy. Anybody know of any fic where he's at least close to the canon character? I can live with him being redeemed but only if he starts as the bastard I know and love.

Like the new Dumbledore a lot. And ooh, the twins. And there was just so much slash in general (old married couple, heh). The Ron/Hermione was pretty cute, too. I think I'm leaning towards the OT3ness of the Trio, though.

And [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast has finally seen Not Fade Away so I don't have to worry about spoiling him for it.

[livejournal.com profile] musesfool linked two Minx fics ("As Black As He's Painted" and "Ghosts") but didn't link the series they're FROM...and why do one without the other?

I was just going to rec you the entire series, "Lost Feeling." (http://vidweasels.com/Minx/Lost_Feeling/LF_index.html) First fanfic to make me cry in six years. Minx also has a page of Recs up, so you can check those out too.

Also check out Restricted Section.org. A lot of the fic is shite, but there's some that isn't. I just made a big long rec post in someone else's LJ and would hate to retype it all, so I'll try to find it. Not all of my favorite fic is Remus/Sirius, though, as much as they're my OTP.

I found the rest of my rec's on [livejournal.com profile] behindblue_eyes' LJ. (Thief!)

Cybele's "If You Are Prepared" (http://www.swish-n-flick.netfirms.com/images/coverpages/iyap_cover.htm) (Harry/Snape) is worth a read, pairing aside. It's getting to be famous in the fandom for its multitude of graces. I shouldn't start praising it, 'cause I wouldn't stop. (See also [livejournal.com profile] yukipon for her Japanese translation of IYAP and illustrations. The translation doesn't matter; the illustrations are worth worshiping at an altar.)

Minx's personal site is better, btw, because she has some installments in the Lost Feeling series that aren't included on Restricted Section (http://www.restrictedsection.org/).

Other rec's for Restricted Section (by author)...
-Ailei - "Clued" and "Can't Catch Me," to start (James/Remus/Sirius in variations)
-Amanuensis - some sincerely fucked up ideas, but [livejournal.com profile] glockgal illustrated "And Just Plain Wrong" for a reason. It's sick.
-Cassandra Claire - I like "A Season in Hell" and "After the Flood" for some spare, introspective Harry/Draco
-Cybele - some of her other fic is here, and I adore "Something to Write On" and "Quill and Ink" from the selection
-Fabula Rasa - I love love love everything she's done. I'm wondering if she has an LJ and a personal site so I can find more, actually. "Cordelictus" is especially divine. (Sirius/Snape)
-Icarus - the "Beg Me For It" series is cute, and Ron/Draco. The "Primer to the Dark Arts" series is not worth the read, imo.
-Maeglin Yedi - I think I read "Of Wolf and Man" (Harry/Moony to start with) on a rec. It's pretty good, but only if you can stand bestiality, which I barely can. Her other stuff might be good reads, too.
-Snaples - I've seen his/her fanart around, so the name conjures recognition...I don't know how good the fic is, though
-starcrossed - my friend and fellow RPGer, Aimes
-Xandria - has been recced to me, though I can't say I have a favorite of hers

That should get you started, right? *G*
