old fic spam

Trawling my hard drive looking for stuff to put on my fic website - which will get finished at some point - and I found the stuff I wrote for Circe's pirate gold project. The one below is my favourite thing that I've ever written.

He was small, for one of his kind. His nose was flatter than was normal, his body fatter, and his wings, which had never developed, eventually fell away completely. Still, enough local children strayed by his cave that he was never hungry, and from their possessions he amassed himself a nice pile of treasure.

Among his prizes was a heavy gold coin with a death's head on the front.

The men who came to take it back hurt him, and for many years he hid in the dark of his cave, regaining his strength. When he emerged it was a new world.

But there was a place to be had, even for a small, wingless dragon. A place that let him get close to the children that were his very favourite food. They loved him and played with him, and if two or three went missing, nobody ever commented.

Under the studio lights Barney grinned, and thought of treasure.

I'd completely forgotten I wrote The Clangers for that challenge. And Rent. And This Life.

OMG! *giggle* *snort* BARNEY FIC! I never though I would live to see the day. Good lord. that is all. And it's wonderful, BTW. *giggles* I always knew Barney was evil. And now I have been vindicated!
