Random thought that was bugging me at four this morning - a ficathon type thing I'd like to do this summer would be a bit different from the others I've seen in that people who signed up would be assigned an episode of Angel (or two, which is more likely so every episode gets covered) and then have to produce something specific to that episode. This would preferably be fic, but could also be icons, essay, review, quotes, anything else people can think of, and it all gets put on a site as a tribute to the show.

This sounds more coherent in my head, but would anybody be interested? (I'd probably need 55 people to make this doable)

(ETA: thinking I'd let people request one of their episodes on a first come first served basis since I'd like, say, a Doyle fan to do Hero, a Harmony fan to do Harm's Way and so forth. Or people could just give their preference for a particular season or character. But that's just me thinking aloud and depends on enough people being interested in playing in the first place)

That sounds really cool. (And again, I keep thinking I'm done with the Whedonverse, and then I see interesting ideas like this). I can't guarantee I would do it, since I don't know what life will be like this summer, but I'd at least think about it.

Would there be a request form where people could request certain eps? or a "so and so-centric ep"? I would do it even if there wasn't, but I would looove to do "Rm w/a vu" or "Birthday" or any other Cordy-centric episode. :)

In that case I would strongly suggest the person pick up on the backstory of Angelus's history with Baudelaire that gets mentioned in the ep, or some nice animated icons of wacky dancing, because I can't imagine what else they'd do... but I think that'd be part of the fun of it, to see what people come up with when they're focusing just on one (well, two) episode.

I'm seriously thinking about giving it a go this summer... the only problem's going to be cajoling 55 people (or 54, plus me) into signing on, since I think 2 episodes each is about as many as we should do.

A tribute, what a wonderful idea! With the show ending and all, fandom has been pretty morose of late. We need something positive.

If there's, um, any chance there's a writer interested in collaborating on a short! comic (one or two pages)... I'd like to join in, but drawing is all I can do.

This sounds like a great idea. Of course, I myself would be more likely to tackle it from a grahical angle - icons, wallpaper, an ep-based vid, that sort of thing - but then there could be fic, essays, sound clips, just about anything. I like the openness of it.

I don't think you're going to have trouble getting 55 participants. You might even have more, which I guess means that some episodes could be covered from two different people's perspectives. Which, hey, I think is even cooler. Maybe you could have people specify when they sign up whether their efforts will be more heavily focused on fic vs. graphics vs. essays, so if there are double-ups, they can be among people with different sorts of interests.

I'm a little afraid of a knock down, drag out fight over "Smile Time," but apart from that I'm really excited about this project. :)

I haven't done a ficathon yet, but this sounds incredibly cool. I'd be up for any episode, really, but I'm a big Wesley fan. Lorne, too. But heck, throw me any episode and I'm all over it, whichever one it is.
