I caved and bought the complete Jeeves and Wooster DVD set. I've never seen the first episode before. I love what a mess Bertie is before he employs Jeeves - he's such a typical student, except he's not even at university. He just sort of arses about and gets into predictable crises involving aunts.
I really love this show.
Oooh, and Bertie's uber-camp cousins are in this episode
and they flirt with Jeeves.
[Jeeves answers the door]
Cousin 1: Well, you're not Bertie.
Cousin 2: No, he's better looking than Bertie.
Jeeves: Very good of you to say, sir.
And the whole episode's about how Bertie can't take care of himself, and he needs to marry someone "strong and forceful and sensible" to take care of him. And along comes Jeeves. Hmmm.

I've done the pairing version of this, now for the characters:
01. Post a list of 10 TV shows you watch (current or dead).
02. Have your friends list guess your favourite character from each show.
03. When guessed, bold the line and write a sentence about why you like that character.
04. Post in your own LJ.
1.
Angel (it's not Nina, shocking as that will appear, although she's up there): Angel himself, the big lug. Which is odd, since I really hated him on Buffy, but to quote Lindsey MacDonald, "he's good, he's bad, he's a barrel of monkeys." And I love him for it.
2.
Star Trek: DS9: Close call between Garak and Ben Sisko, but Garak just wins out (even thuogh I love semi-unhinged messiah types). Garak's so insidious and clever and I love how his backstory evolves na dunfolds over the show's run.
3.
House: House himself. Who wouldn't love a brilliant, witty, misanthropic, pill-popping medic? Except Bernard Black of Black Books, who loathes doctors because they're all satanists (it's why 'Ambulance' is written backwards, apparently). That's still a crossover event waiting to happen.
4.
Desperate Housewives: Bree. She could easily have been the 2D Stepford wife but Marcia Cross is amazing. She is a scarily perfect domestic goddess but she is also human, but more importantly, like Locke, she could fuck your shit up, and you
know she would.
5.
Lost: Locke, who I first loved because I thought he was creepy and evil, and then because I decided he wasn't. He has a tragic past and a messiah complex, and as my icon says, he will Fuck Your Shit Up And Laugh About It After (thanks,
buffyx. And we share the Boone-love.
6.
Firefly: Jayne. Probably the shallowest choice on the list. He's so
big and clumsy and not all that bright, and he's the only member of the Serenity crew I could see turning on them, and that's interesting.
7.
Frasier: Niles. I love David Hyde Pierce. He has neurotic-but-sweet down to a tee.
8.
Friends: Chandler. Predictable choice. I tend to go for the funny one of the group. Matthew Perry has terrific line delivery.
9. Star Trek: Voyager
10.
Harry Potter: Remus Lupin. He's a
werewolf! A shy, bookish werewolf teacher with an ambiguously gay relationship with Sirius and whose movie incarnation looks like a Bletchley Park codecracker. If Remus isn't in Book 6 I will cry and throw a strop.
Buffy's not on there because my favourites fluctuate too much to pick one.
