I haven't seen Underneath and likely won't for a while. Will that stop me speculating on it? Nope!

Two men walk into a bar. The first man orders a scotch and soda. The second man remembers something he'd forgotten, and it doubles him over with pain. He falls to the floor, shaking, and then through the floor and into the Earth. He looks back up at the first man, but he doesn't call out to him. They're not that close.

My big regret is that we know Wes remembers Lilah. Because if he didn't, I'd lay money on this dream turning out to be big, honking foreshadowing for reversal of her memory wipe.

The 'through the floor and into the earth' makes me very, very nervous because ever since we saw the Deeper Well I've been thinking:
1) Drogyn's toast
2) somebody's going to have to take his place as the guardian. My money's on Angel.

Then there's all that stuff about the layers of the Earth, too... :frets:

(Of course, it could all be another 'from beneath you, it devours' or 'Buffy won't choose you' and not mean much.)

Shut up. The writers have learned their lessons, damn it. And Joss is at the helm. And anyway ::hands over ears:: La, la, la, I'm not listening.

I'm pretty unspoiled, but knowing casting spoilers and such, I'm wondering if this is any forshadowing to Connor. Remembering something painful? Being that he kidnapped Connor and the chain of events that happened *because* of that. Possibly realizing or feeling that desicion led to not only Angel losing his son, but Angel signing on for Wolfram and Hart to save that son, which ultimatly led to Fred's death. (Which would lend to the reference to the hole in the world.)

I don't know. Just a little mild speculation, which I admittedly have never been good at.

Or... Wes becomes the keeper. Spoilers indicate

*he says looking over Illyria seems like something he needs to do (something like that). What if he's the one falling into the hole?

Ooh, that would definitely fit with his story about the man falling into the Earth. In which case, the man who can't save him would be - Angel, I guess?

That would make sense. That's what I took away from it, but my intuition is notoriously bad at this sort of thing.

I am totally on board with that theory. B/c dude if/when the reality shift gets undone and everyone remembers, Wes is going to be doubled over with pain and will realize that he and Angel are not that close.

Oh. Ouch. You're...probably not wrong.

Hmm.
