So I'm sitting here doing my astrophysics homework - online since I have to use integrals.com to do the hard bits of the calculus for me (two maths A-Levels and I still don't know how to integrate xe^-x, sigh...)

Then I notice the site is run by Wolfram Research, so now I have images in my head of poor Angel sitting in his office looking with panic at his computer screen going "e? What the hell is e? Wesley!"

...I may have had too much coffee.

1.) ASTROPHYSICS? Seriously? Big brain.

Hee! Yup, that's what my degree's in.

2.) I don't know what "xe^-x" is, or how or why you'd want to integrate it?

x (the variable you're integrating over) multiplied by the exponential of negative x. It's all to do with the solar source function (how much stuff comes off a star)

I love my course. It can make me pretend I'm smart...

3.) Hee. As well read and intelligent as Angel pretends to be is, I bet higher math is a problem.

Snerk. Oh, it so is. (But because I dearly love the boy, I'll admit that the scene - in She, is it? - where he talks about Baudelaire is one of my favourites. Smart boys are hot, even when they're occasionally just pretty and dumb.)

Give anyone photographic memory and lifetimes to read and experience things, and that person will be able to seem smart, but that won't help when there's math to do.

The sad thing is, I actually do enjoy maths. Especially beautiful calculus. I just need a book in front of me to tell me the integrals...

*nods and smiles pleasantly*

I used to think he was really intelligent as well. I mean... 250 years traveling, reading, experiencing... then after Epiphany, to find out his brain came spurting out of his dick...

Did I just say that out loud? *G*

And since then, we've gotten pop music and movie, and actor references with nothing more difficult to read than a newspaper.

*cries* I liked it when Angel was smart!

Smart is haaaaaawwwwwt. Not that dumb and pretty doesn't have its place in bed.

Hee! And didn't he used to be able to read a bunch of languages? I seem to remember French philosophy or something...

Oh, way more than that! In the ring, I remember him speaking at least four languages, along with Korean in Parting Gifts.

I have an Angel Bible somewhere in my pigpen of an office. Lost since I chucked it across the room during Provider, I think. I figured -- Joss tossed his, why shouldn't I?

*G* Not to be bitter and snide or anything. I'm carrying a little resentment that they dumbed my favorite character down. ;)

Repeat after me: 'Provider Never Happened.' That's my version, and I'm sticking with it.
