I got 65% on my essay (the GPS one, not the one I just handed in). That's quite depressing, especially since I've been giving more and more thought to the idea of science journalism as a career. On the other hand, I only know of two people who scored higher and I did leave out an important effect (which I've never heard of - yay for my sources!)

1. What scene in which movie is guaranteed to make you cry?

The end of American Beauty. Even watched in isolation, the second Kevin Spacey says "And Janey. And Janey." I'm a total wreck.

2. What scene in which television show makes you tear up no matter how many times you've seen it?

The one that leaps to the front of my mind waving its arms is the scene in the sports store in Home. The acting in that scene is incredible. VK's "but not enough to hold on, dad" reduces me to floods.

3. Is there any famous tear jerker of a scene that leaves you cold? Or worse, makes you laugh?

The Greta Garbo film where she dies angstily - is it Marguerite or something? Camille, that's it. So OTT.

4. Do you cry when a character on screen cries, or is it something else that gets the tears flowing?

Nope, it's the big emotional moments (I cry when Stitch is lost in the woods in Lilo and Stitch, for God's sake!)

5. One fic that makes you cry

Let me think, I know there was one recently that I had to stop reading because I didn't want to be crying in the middle of the library... Oh! Bang/Whimper by anniesj.
