Tomorrow being the Day of St. Patrick, all the libraries will be closed. Cutting me off from my net (especially on the day of the Conncest ficathon, when new Connor/Wes fic will be posted!) is a dangerous thing, and I hope the people in charge of such things are prepared for the consequences.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] thecount_ha has requested Angel/St. Patrick slash. Too many possible jokes about driving snakes out of Ireland.

I bought season 1 of Starsky and Hutch in Tesco last night, eeee! I may have been doing a happy little bobbing motion by the counter, because the checkout guy said, "aww, you're so excited." Then he said that lots of people say he looks like Starsky (blind people, I assume. Not that he wasn't nice looking. Speaking of lookalikes, it was surreal going to see the movie with [livejournal.com profile] thecount_ha, who not only looks like but dresses like Owen-Wilson-as-Hutch.)

One double bill of A Coffin For Starsky and The Fix later, I had corrupted [livejournal.com profile] marymac with my love of 70s cop shows. The clothes! The hair! The rampant Hoyay! Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] connorbeast was fostering a mild obsession with Captain Dobey (I agree with him that Dobey needs a spinoff, preferably with the cop in The Fix who says "My God, he's a junkie!" because the delivery of that line is just excellent. Err... we don't fixate on minor characters at all...)

ETA2: Working on an essay. One of my sources is "A Prolegomenon to the Philosophy of Quantum Mechanics". You know, I don't use the word 'prolegomenon' enough in conversation.

pro·le·gom·e·non ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prl-gm-nn, -nn)
n. pl. pro·le·gom·e·na (-n)
A preliminary discussion, especially a formal essay introducing a work of considerable length or complexity.
prolegomena (used with a sing. or pl. verb) Prefatory remarks or observations.

Mmm, prolegomenous. The author of this fine work is called Michael Redhead, which is a fittingly great name.

W00t! Icon squee! Loff!

....you, know, why didn't I say this out loud?

For the benefit of other readers, [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4 and I are sitting at adjacent computers, and she's about nine inches from my left elbow. Geeks, we are.

Yes. Yes, we are.

I was IMing with Steven from across the lab one day. He objected to my use of 'lol' on the grounds that 'no you're not, you're about eight feet away, I'd hear you!'

I very often say LOL when I'm not actually laughing. It's shorter to type than 'That's funny!'
