(no subject)

Unexpectedly, the scratch remover stuff I bought actually worked, and my season 5 DVD (No Place Like Home, Family, Fool for Love, whatever the other episode is) has been restored to its former glory.

So I watched No Place Like Home and FFL.

NPLH: The spell, with Dawn fading in and out, is a terrific scene. I *love* the bedroom flickering between Dawn's room and the dark storeroom. And I'd forgotten about the misdirection in trying to make Dawn look evil. Plus - Spike! Spike's third-grade approach to interpersonal relations! "And I never liked you anyway and you have stupid hair." God, I love Spike when he's being immature (if anyone couldn't guess)

FFL: Now I Dead From Lust. What with the disc being out of commission I'd forgotten how much the subway scene rocks. Plus Nikki has cool pants. I never noticed that before. And now I think I need to read some really dark and twisted Buffy/Spike.

On a DVDs note - looking forward to getting the Angel season 4 DVDs. It's probably quite wrong that Angel's "Daddy hasn't finished talking" in Deep Down gets my vote as the hottest line ever uttered on either show...

Go to [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt's journal and read the piece she wrote for me. :) You'll love it.

Checked it out, and you're right! Thanks!

[identity profile] writteninstars.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! At least I don't consider it wrong. Definitely hottest line ever.

[identity profile] moireach.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
Mmmm, NPLH is one of the creepiest episodes ever, imho. When Dawn's fading in and out of the picture over Joyce's shoulder before Buffy's noticed .... shiver! And also, it's the only post-s4 ep with Oz in it -- or, well, Seth Green, as an extra in the Magic Box when Giles is on the phone. Hee.

I wish they'd kept the original Nikki actress in s7; no clue why they didn't. The new one looked much less hardcore.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
Really? :runs off to find Seth Green:

And on Nikki - ohhh, yes. The original actress looked perfect for the part. I fanwanked to myself that the First conjured up Robin's faded memory of his mother, but that was shot out of the water by the flashback in Lies My Parents Told Me. Damn.

Why they didn't bring back the original Nikki

[identity profile] nikitangel.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The original actress tried out for the role in S7, but didn't look "young enough." She talked about it in an interview:

I understand that the "Subway Slayer" is returning this season, and that you auditioned for the part in September, is that right?

Yes. I received a call from the casting director at Buffy saying that they were bringing the character back. I was told to come in and audition on September 13. I thought I was a shoo-in because I had already established the character. There weren't many lines. Then I got a phone call from casting stating that there was "a certain maturity" about me now, and that I didn't get the part.

But you played that same part just two years ago.

Yes, I know. It was a blow for me not to get called back. I do kind of understand, seeing that the slayers are teenagers, but the character in Fool for Love was older than that. I cried for weeks; I was very disappointed, because I'm trying to get my acting career off the ground and this might have put me on the map. They did say that they would try to find me something else on the show.

Nice, huh? Gotta love Hollywood. I found that interview here: http://carrigon.proboards15.com/index.cgi?board=buffy&action=display&num=1045875844

Spike's third-grade approach to interpersonal relations!
Did you see this (http://www.livejournal.com/community/open_on_sunday/125649.html)? Hiliarous.

I'd forgotten how much the subway scene rocks
Doesn't it just? It's one of my Alltime Favourites - the way it's edited, to intercut Punk!Spike with Buffy, is gorgeous.

It's probably quite wrong that Angel's "Daddy hasn't finished talking" in Deep Down gets my vote as the hottest line ever uttered on either show...

::blinks:: It's wrong to think that...? What about the bit where Wes cuts his arm to let Angel feed - is it bad to have just about fainted at that point...?

Deep Down - crammed full of The Hot.

Oh! What kind of scratch-remover stuff did you buy? Just curious, because we have a problem with one of our DVDs.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
It's generic stuff from HMV (music and DVD shop). Comes in a little bottle with some cloths to wipe the disc with. You should be able to get some in a DVD or computer store.

Thanks -- wasn't sure if it was a specific brand. Glad to hear the generic stuff works okay, and will try that out.

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
I think Angel's "Sit. Down." in that uber-mad quiet voice comes a close second.

But then I'm already corrupt. And you still deserve much more spankings. Have I mentioned I might hate you? I might. Or I might just want to punish you some more. It's a fine line.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
:cries: Why might you hate me?

Ah, hell, so long as I get more spankings...

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
Because you wrote a line. And that line is sticking in my head. And it's making me ponder fic bunnies and stories and I've got enough insanity on my plate, thank you very much, so you just take your little lines and peddle them elsewhere, missy! So there!

Plus you have stupid hair.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
Mwahaha. I repent nothing.

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
Just you wait. You'll get yours. I trained my cats to kill [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl the last time this happened and, okay, granted they haven't done it yet but that's only because I forgot to teach them how to drive as well.

[kicks you] Stupid line.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Will... not... make... pussies... joke...

Psst, what was the line? I'm all aquiver with curiosity.

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It was in your story last night. The big about Wes finding out about the car crash and he starts to ask if Connor was hurt then quickly corrects himself and asks about Connor and Spike both.

That dinged like easily three of my kinks in one big go. Now I'm all tempted to write something except I don't know if I can stick the dismount and it'd have to totally bite off your premise to begin with so there we are.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoo! If it has Wesley and Connor and possibly Spike I'll be a happy bunny regardless *g*

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
But it'd be swiping your idea. Kinda. Sorta. The vague premise of a live Connor in W&H with the rest of the gang anyway. Beyond that I don't know as I've been trying to stab this repeatedly with a fork instead of letting it come to life.

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww - you're so good to me! Quite generous and giving and... hey wait a minute! You're trying to infect me with this thing aren't you? I'm on to you, buddy!

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
:innocence: Meeee? Would I do such a heinous... oh, I can't even fake it.

Write it. You know you want to.

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Shaddup. I'm trying to do another installment of Pet. I don't multitask this well.

"Sit. Down..."

...Angel says as he pulls Connor on to his lap.

Dude. My world is a dirty, happy place.

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Naughty [livejournal.com profile] ros_fod!

(You forgot to add spankings)

Bad, BAD girl!

[identity profile] ros-fod.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*wibble*

you said the magic spanking word

Plus, I don't believe you, you evil person. You're *never* going to write that Connor/Wes story and you know it!

[identity profile] thebratqueen.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not my fault I keep getting attacked by bunnies! I'm innocent, I tells ya, innocent!

[identity profile] amberwaves2.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
I *love* the spell in NPLH. It's just so... cool. The misdirection is also great -- I watched it with the cousin once, and although she'd seen most of S6 and all of S7, she was kind of confused. I just let her hang there. It's funner that way. ;)

As for FFL... what else is there to be said? It rocks. My socks. Whoo hoo.

Lucky you and your season four DVDs. I want me some Wes/Lilah, now precioussss. Yes I do.

I'd forgotten about that line. Must go rewatch "Deep Down".

[identity profile] kita0610.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
Daddy.

Wibble.

If it's wrong I don't wanna be right. Damnit.

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
I would wax Joss's car, buy him doughnuts and/or bear his children if they did a reprise of that line, Angel snapping it at Spike.

[identity profile] cosmic.livejournal.com 2004-01-16 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's probably quite wrong that Angel's "Daddy hasn't finished talking" in Deep Down gets my vote as the hottest line ever uttered on either show...
But it so *is*. So you're not horribly twisted. I, on the other hand, might be as one my other favourite scenes from s4 Angel is - what is the episode called, Sacrifice? - Angel beating the *crap* out of Connor (mostly to give a chance for his people to escape the Jasminites). Also, Angel beating up Lindsey in Epiphany with the accompanying 'I'm sorry' speech. 'cause. --okay, let's just leave it at Menacing Angel is hot?

*goes to sit alone in the Fucked Up part of the class*

Totally forgot about that Angel line. *shivers from heat*
