Thoughts on Various Angel Episodes
Nov. 29th, 2003 05:44 pmMy disjointed, shallow thoughts on the episodes we watched this week. Not including Numero Cinco, as I haven't seen it yet.
Life of the Party
- This episode was a riot.
- I applaud the new 'naked Boreanaz' policy.
- Gunn/Wes: canon! Canon!
- I love the opening with the fabulous music.
- Since when does Spike hate parties?
- I could watch an entire series just about Knox.
- Drunken Fred and Wes look surprisingly similar to me or any of my friends when drunk. Especially the elevator.
Lineage
- Loved how Wes reverted to season 1 Wesley as soon as his dad showed up.
- The Judi Dench anecdote may be the single greatest moment in the history of the series, if not all television.
- Lorne looooves the dadbot.
- The 'head boy' thing made me giggle for ages. Brilliant delivery from JM. Same goes for "sex with robots is more common than people might think'. :snuggles her wacky neighbour Spike:
- Denisof is an incredible actor, especially in his reaction to shooting the dadbot.
- I read Cat and Mouse by
thebratqueen the other day. There's a throwaway line about Wes's dad being called Roger. Good call.
- Knox in a leather jacket is too adorable for words beyond 'squee!'
- Spike/Gunn: it's the new Spangel.
Destiny
- When Angelus Met William: most homoerotic thing I have ever seen on television. And I watch Smallville.
- Angelus shagging Dru? How the hell did that get on the WB? (Not that I'm complaining)
- "You'll never take me to hell, Pavayne!" Bwah! Although the day after seeing Hellbound the lights in the lift I was in went out and I was quite freaked.
- Great fight scene. Interesting that just like Faith and Angel, Spike is suddenly undaunted by that silly gravity.
- JM has never heard a British person say the word "dew".
- Lindsey! Lindsey Lindsey Lindsey! With tattoos!
marymac didn't recognise him, though.
- Hate Eve so very much. I usually like everyone. Only Lana normally earns this much venom from me. Even toning down the pet names would make me like the character a fraction more.
Smallville - Shattered
- Best. Episode. Ever.
- Michael Rosenbaum is an amazing actor. I would kill to see him onscreen with Alexis Denisof.
- When he was rocking the shirtbaby I was utterly convinced he was going to say it was his and Clark's baby.
- I spent the first fifteen minutes going "I've *read* this fanfic!"
- Shouldn't Lana be dead? Or paralysed? The horse stamped on her spine. Three times.
- Clark better damn well try to break Lex out next week.
- There must be so much fanfic around this episode. I'm trying to track it down.

on 2003-11-29 11:49 am (UTC)I'm surprised at how few people recognised Lindsey - I'm glad that they didn't go overboard with it. Shows they're still aware of the old and loyal fanbase. *g*
Eve = fingernails on chalkboard. Go. Away.
It was actually pretty frightening to see the ways in which Wesley was affected by his father - his voice immediately goes up a notch or two, and he begins stumbling and stammering. Poor guy.

If you find any good post-Shattered fic, could you let me know? I'd appreciate it.
Shattered was marvelous. I've found that the more time Lex and/or Lionel spend on screen, the more I enjoy the episode.
Michael Rosenbaum was fabulous, but Alexis Denisof's performance in Lineage, I believe, outdid him. The entire shrinking of his self, becoming fumbling Wesley in the presence of his father was stunning.
