Go lookit Parallel Lives, the Connor fic
roseveare wrote me for the ABoD challenge. I do love me my AUs and what-ifs, and it rocks. And now I feel even guiltier about dropping out. Lesley is my hero for filling in.
Currently writing up the stupid annual report for my uni's science fiction and fantasy society (which last year was dangerously close to becoming the "Things Doyle and
connorbeast Want to Watch, Mostly Buffy and Angel" society, not that that's going in the report.)
So, I finally got to see episodes three and four of Angel...
Angel McBeal! Angel McBeal! It so is. I mean, ending on a Ryan Adams song as the gang eats takeout and ponders whether the cute girl of the week was interested in Angel? I expect the unisex toilets and the dancing baby vampire to turn up during sweeps.
(Note that I'm not being snarky, oddly enough. I love the new direction of the show and I liked this episode a lot. Don't suppose there's any Angel/Nina fic around?)
Hellbound
Loved it. Loved loved loved.
In episodes two and three - going to whisper this, because it's sekrit - I was a bit uncomfortable with Spike. Adore the character, always, but I thought JM was, well, overacting. I thought he was terrific in Hellbound. There's my Spike.
(
connorbeast says "I'm slightly suspicious that your opinion of Marsters' acting ability increases when he gets his clothes off" but he's a big cynic and liar, and he probably steals things.)
I'm so happy to be loving Fred this season. Damn, if I didn't want Fred/Knox I'd want Fred/Spike. I'm sticking my fingers in my ears and going "I can't hear you!" to any suggestion of my boy Knox being evil.
The scene in Angel's penthouse? Best. Scene. Ever. Angel's and Spike's loveissopoetic.
Ooh, and I saw Matrix Revolutions too.
You know what this movie needed? A hundred - no, a thousand - dancing Hugo Weavings. Saying that, it was still pretty good. Cheesier than the annual cheesmakers' festival in Cheese County, though. I predicted most of the battle, based on every war movie I've ever seen - of course the grizzled old commander was going to die and the whiny kid from the Animatrix was going to save the day. It was practically Saving Private Neo.
A lot of it was just fun, though. The dialogue was horrendous, but I expected nothing else. The shot of Agent Smith made of fire was gorgeous. Smithy in general - all of him - was as great as I anticipated. And now I kinda want Neo/Smith slash...
S'pose I should get back to the report. Dammit.
By the way, the obscure fandoms ficathon made me wonder if there's a list or community to request weird fandoms? Because I've thought of a bunch more pairings I should have requested. Someone out there must have seen the British show Teachers and want to write me slash about it.

on 2003-11-06 07:06 pm (UTC)I find that really amusing. I was wanting Neo/Smith slash in May and everyone thought I was insane but now I've seen a few people mention it since Revolutions. Is there something in there I should know about? ;)

I feel the same way. They finally got rid of the pigtails and gave her a labcoat instead.
