Tech question

For anyone who knows anything about computers... why is my PC so damn slow?! It's only a few months old, the C drive apparently has 29 GB free of a possible 37.2GB, and it's sloooow. I am technically illiterate. Can anybody help out? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

(On an unrelated topic, I saw Pirates of the Caribbean twice more this week. And I've discovered that absolutely everyone in my group of friends shares my loathing of Will, though the girls at least qualify it with "he's very pretty, but..." I think this says something about how our group reacts to nice guys...)

Will was a boy. I've never been attracted to "boys".

Now ... Norrington, that's another kettle of fish.

And Jack? Well, he defies category :)

How many programs are you running? Look at your task manager by typing [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL]. Aside from the system processes, are any programs running that you don't want there? In addition, go to your Start button and use the RUN by the bottom. Type in 'msconfig', but without the ''. Go to Startup and see which programs are set to run at startup. Choose only the ones that are necessary to YOU (since everything listed is optional).

If that doesn't work, I'll be on AIM later today as bailunrui.

:-D No problem.

Possibilities for computer slowness:

1) Too little memory.
2) Too many background processes, taking up what memory you have
3) Slow network connection

The amount of stuff on the hard drive should have little effect on speed. Not "no effect" but a small effect.

I'm with you on the Will issue. Too annoying and too pretty (and effeminate). Same goes for Orlando.

I LOVE that film so much! I have the feeling that I ought to like Will, but I don't. I think I know why: Norrington satisfies my normal taste for the 'good guy'. Ever since I heard he was meant to be Horatio Hornblower as he would appear as a supporting character in someone else's story, I have loved him. As for Jack, he ROX muchly ;).
However, for the first time ever, I prefer the 'Han Solo' type over the unlikely hero, Luke Skywalker type. Maybe I'm growing up at last?
*looks at cute cartoon Luke icon* Nah!

when was the last time you ran a scan disk?
which windows do you have?
do you clear your temp internet files regularly?

I think it's fixed now, the problem was too many programs opening on startup. Thanks!
