More SFX stuff
Sep. 9th, 2003 06:07 pmI got the SFX Buffy special (the one with the ratings). No word on how many people were involved in the ranking or how they sorted it - or possibly there is, but I just skimmed, so I didn't see it. Things I discerned about the people doing the ranking:
- they love Spike, but only when he's evil
- they love Andrew
- they hate Kennedy
- they hate Riley with the fiery passion of ten thousand suns (the summary of Out of My Mind is "yay, Riley might be dying!")
- they love Xander, but only when he's a loser - they particularly hate the threat of him getting a girlfriend in Beneath Me
- they really loved Chosen
- they did most of it from memory, because there are a bunch of factual errors (plot points attributed to wrong episodes, Andrew referred to as 'Jonathan'...)
The regular SFX has a nice letter about Andrew's sexuality, which seems to be a popular topic. I love the editor's comment: "If Buffy had been on HBO, no doubt Andrew and Warren would have been rutting like randy rabbits" (SFX is a slashy place. A few months back there was another letter about how Andrew and Xander should have gotten together. The editor's response was "oh, please don't give Jayne more ideas..." A page later, Jayne herself mentioned that she was having sleepless nights having "naughty thoughts about Spike on Angel")
I was so very tempted by the Angel magazine, because the centre poster is Angel and Wes. It's homoerotorific.
