Since we were all off college yesterday, an expedition down town was mounted to buy Claire's birthday presents. I ended up trailing around with [livejournal.com profile] marymac and her boyfriend David (after spending far too much money on comics and fabulous sparkly trainers). David has roughly the same outlook on shopping that I do: decide beforehand what you're going to buy, find it in your size and hand over the cash. Both of us spent most of the time doing scenes from Father Ted ("it's the largest lingerie department in Ireland. I read that... somewhere"), lamenting the lack of a giant ballpool for us to play in while we waited, and adopting identical expressions of fixed "why is she asking us?" terror when asked our opinion on which outfit looked best. But on the plus side, we got the birthday presents, though David's sulking because Mary showed Claire the CD he'd bought her. Oops.

Speaking of Mary, she was upset by one of my weekend updates and wanted to make it very clear that I was an accomplice in plotting to blow up Twinkies in the microwave. Since they're on the list of foods we've heard of but never seen or eaten, Sarah is under instructions to bring some back when she goes to America this summer. Then we can make them explode!

On a whim in the comic shop I picked up a pack of the new Buffy trading cards. They're called Connections and are all about the show's various 'ships. I wasn't surprised by getting Buffy/Angel and Willow/Oz, was very pleased to get a nice one of the Ganya kiss in Tabula Rasa, and was vastly amused that I got a Spike/Xander card. The back says it's a "hate connection". Suuuure. They're all stuck to my wall in a nice little 'ships montage. It must have made us nostalgic because last night Sarah, Mary and me had an impromptu Buffy fest, focusing on the original ships of Buffy/Angel, Willow/Oz, Willow/Xander and Xander/Cordelia. They were all so damn cute in season 2. *sighs*

I think we may have worn out the DVD of Innocence, given how much Sarah and me watched the scene of Angelus wet in the mall. I think our neighbours wondered what all the squeeing was about. The other episodes were Halloween, Phases, Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered, and Homecoming. I really miss Oz. And Larry! His coming out scene is just hilarious. Why can't the First appear as my poor Larry?

ETA: I miss Ethan Rayne too. He's so the Magneto of the Buffyverse - evil and bitchy and just fabulous. "Hello, Ripper" gets my vote for the best. Innuendo. Ever.
