I'm seriously out of touch with Buffy fandom these days - can someone point me at a Buffy/Satsu comm? There must be one, surely. I've been shipping them since the first couple of issues, am surprised it's become canon (and concerned that it's going to be passed off as a joke or a piece of fanservice with zero follow-up, or that Satsu's going to go evil and die) and I'd like to talk about it somewhere that's not filled with homophobia, apparent confusion over the existence of bisexuality, or ranting about how having sex with a woman has Ruined Buffy's Character Forever OMG.

I need to stop reading the ONTD thread about it. "apparently everyone on every show EVER must be gay nowadays" - gosh, not just the odd moment on Torchwood or subtextual House/Wilson but everyone on every show ever? Oh, the poor oppressed heterosexuals, why are there no straight characters or relationships on TV? *emo tear*

it was in a new york times article yesterday. There's some discussion going on in newly_legion too.

Tip if you don't want the homophobia, the avoid the Darkhorse forums. Things were getting ugly there.

overall this development has made a lot of fans of the comics contracdits themselves saying that it's out of character because "#Oh Buffy would never do that".

Then, there are the shippers, who just hate it all because for some reason this kill their ships (I still think the the one thing that makes you a spuffy this days is not wanting her to end up with Angel :P). And the ones who love the new ship

And there there are some fans worried about Buffy going back to using someone who loves her, and how disconsiderate she is.

finally there are the ones who are disscusing how this fits in the overall plot. Of course I'm pretty sure there are many positions but these semm to be te main ones right now XD

The ONTD comments are making me laugh so hard, because...oh my god.\

I am not aware of a comm, sadly, because tragically it seems that no one is reading the comics. :(

Thank you! *goes to check out newly_legion*

Yeah, that's the part that worries me, too. It'd be one thing if she thought Satsu was just attracted to her, but it seems an odd leap from "I know you're in love with me and that's probably going to end badly" to "...so let's have sex!"

'Buffy the bull dyke'. Just... yeah.

it seems that no one is reading the comics. :(

Yep - and yet it doesn't stop people having fervent opinions on them.

Honestly I'm not that worried about that. Buffy's still allowed to make mistakes , is what I think.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't an only sex thing, she seemes to care about Satsu a lot but she's not ready to get into a big commitment either. Satsu knows that and still made the decision to sleep with Buffy, she's resposible too.

Yess I think is gonna be messy but Buffy wont make quite the same mistakes, and I'm happy that she's happy about getting some. I don't think every time she has sex it has to be such a big deal.

Huh. I haven't been reading the season 8 comics, so how did this come about? I just never saw it coming, using just the television show as a grounding, but hey, really, they should jujst make everyone bisexual and solve all sorts of problems there!

I am unaware of a Season 8 comm. I have been reading it but I think I am going to stop now. I was thinking of that before seeing the spoiler. I can not say I care for it. I also do not like "Fray" which is a sequel of sorts published several years ago. I think that there are massive logic problems in it. I guess I like more reality in my fantasy.

Satsu's one of the newly created Slayers from Chosen (a big group of the Slayers plus the Scoobies are living in a castle in Scotland) - it's been hinted for a while that she's in love with Buffy. Last issue was Buffy confronting her about it, saying that she was flattered and thought it was the 'cutest thing ever' but warning her that people who love her tend to die. This episode had them waking up in bed together (and everybody finding out about 3 seconds after Buffy stated a desire to keep it private to them...)

*clings to you*

I have horrible fear that Satsu's Asianness means she's inevitably going to be turned to be the new leader of the Japanese!vampire!gang or something. DO NOT WANT.

I loved this issue. Loved it. (The Xander/Renee was great too.) Drew Goddard FTW.

...I have apparently missed something huge. I haven't kept up with S8, but I think that's really interesting. So it has explicitly been made canon?

Faith will be so jealous. XD

I have all the comics, up until the recent one, but have not read them. I am so bad. Clearly I need to go out and get the new one as well and find out WTF is going on.

Ha, I know, right? I love how people who haven't taken an interest in years are suddenly lecturing us all on how OOC it is. Dude, you haven't read the comics, you haven't got the context.

ONTD?

I admit, I was surprised-- I haven't read the comics, but taking TV!Buffy, it does seem a mite OOC-- but not horrified or anything. I'm all for new pairings, esp if it involves some sexy characters I can write smut about.
