I'm usually the one to ship the age-inappropriate couples, but I agree with you about Seven/Ace being the One True Utterly Platonic Pairing.
I liked Sarah-Jane in some eps, like "Genesis of the Daleks," when Four is waxing philosophical about "do I have the RIGHT to kill the Daleks?", and Sarah-Jane goes: "They're the DALEKS, kill them already!" :-)
