I wish I could stop trying to make sense of the timeline in Angel season 5 and just watch the special features. It's like a logic puzzle from the World Without Logic. (Basically, six months pass between Conviction and Damage, and only two months between You're Welcome and the finale, which makes for a pretty packed eight weeks. We've got two fixed dates in the season, since Life of the Party is a Halloween episode and Smile Time is a week after Valentine's Day. I overthink these things far too much.)

Tried it, hurt my brain in the process. It's the fact that the same amount of time covered by Dirty Girls, Empty Places, Touched and End of Days must be the same as that spanned by Players, Inside Out, Shiny Happy People, Magic Bullet, Sacrifice, Peace Out and Home...

My exact thoughts.

Try working the timeline for the start of Season Seven Buffy, where it appears to go from November 12th in Conversations with Dead People to "just before Christmas" in Bring On The Night (2/3 episodes later), which if you look at all the canon evidence, should really be little more than a week. It seriously makes your head hurt.

No! That way lies madness!

(S6 Bufy is tantalyzing, but you just can't do it if you take Tara's gravestone as canon.)

And the fact that in *Stockton*, Faith saw the news that the sun went out, but Sunnydale never mentioned it?

Ow, mommy!

At the start of... I think it's Dirty Girls, when the electricity goes out, I thought "aha! That's clever, it explains why they wouldn't have heard about Jasmine" (although I'm not sure whether the TV show in Shiny Happy People was supposed to be only broadcast in LA, or something) Then I remembered that they somehow never heard of the blocked-out sun and rain of fire, and decided it was just dumb luck.

Technically, Smile Time can't be a week after Valentine's Day because of the Nina factor - the next full moon isn't until March 6, 2004. I'd say Knox is approximating, as evil geeks do. :-)

The most head-exploding thing about the Angel Season Five timeline, though, is that it indicates that Chosen and the destruction of Sunnydale take place in August rather than May. Witness the geekitude! (http://www.livejournal.com/users/toysdream/3676.html)

And I thought I was the only one who was confused/concerned by that... (Actually, I knew I wasn't. But I haven't seen it discussed all that often.)
