I've spent most of today watching the ROTK commentaries and fangirling Bernard Hill. I would watch a Rohan movie. Just Theoden, Eomer, Eowyn, Gamling and their five million horses that no ecosystem could ever support.

Dear Mr. Hill,

I know you're quite a bit older than me and probably married and everything, but you really do look rather delicious in that bit where you're charging into battle and

Love the Dom and Billy too, of course. (For the people I live with, since this has caused confusion before: Billy is the Scottish one. Dom is the one in Lost.) Everyone in the world's mentioned Dom's "I want to hold [Elijah] and make it all better", which made me snerk. My favourite was the fascinated discussion over whether Eowyn was wearing any knickers.

Dear Mr. Hill,

You do have such a lovely voice in the movies, especially that Where is the horse and the rider speech, and if I was Gamling *I'd* find you that horse

Andy Serkis speaking in the Smeagol/Gollum voice got a bit annoying though.

Theoden rules the internets

I still haven't watched the commentaries, but I wholeheartedly agree to a whole Rohan movie. Especially a movie of Eomer and Eowyn, living happily ever after in incestuous bliss. Heeeeee.

Oh, god, I so would watch that movie. Over and over and over.

*g* Oh God, my LOTR fic would be awful. I've read the first two books and a bit of the third so I know nothing about the canon beyond the movies. (As a big philistine who didn't much like the books but loved the movies to death, I wish there was movieverse fic.)

My DVD player is very relieved there is no such movie, since it would be worn out.

Ah well, at least there's the tons of Rohan stuff in The Two Towers (which I must have seen a dozen times in the cinema and god knows how many on DVD)

How many times have I rewatched the 'Where now the horse and the rider?' speech? Many. Good job DVDs don't wear out like tapes do...

OMG, the commentaries!!!! I haven't been able to post on them since I've been so busy this week, but AMEN to all of what you said. I love hearing Bernard Hill speak, and to top it off he's funny too. I rank him up there with Dom and Billy as to who I like on the commentary.

I wish they'd split up the commentaries so you could watch the whole thing with just one or two of the actors talking for the whole thing. Because although it may be remarkably shallow, I don't really want to know any deep thoughts the actors had during the scene or how it relates to current events. I want the funny!

Smeagol/Gollum should just stay dead.

Couldn't agree more. Every time they cut back to Sean Astin I sulked. I want to hear the entire commentary by either Dom and Billy or Bernard Hill, making up silly lines at serious bits.

Of course, the movie would probably have to be spread over 20 discs...

There should be a sequel to these books. About Theoden's afterlife. Lots of talking and full frontal nudity and no, I'll never admit to saying this if someone asks me. But oh dear not-god, he could charge me into battle so very much.

Also, despite the icon, I ship Theoden/Eowyn.

Oh how I love Theoden. When he says something like "We will meet them in battle, nonetheless," my heart goes pitterpatter.

I didn't mind the people who played Eomer and Eowyn (sp? I'm too lazy to reach over and look at the book) or Liv Tyler. They didn't suck. They could forget Orlando completely, and I'd be okay with that. Gimli and Saruman had some interesting things to offer at times, as well as Gandalf. But certainly Sam, Frodo, and Gollum could go on their own commentary and you could listen to that neveranytime you wanted to think and be depressed.

I really want Viggo to talk though. Why can't he do commentaries? *pout*

OMG

I went through and listened to the commentaries of all three movies this week--my hubby is out of town, so I had time to kill--and a Dom and Billy commentary would make me so happy! I even liked Elijah Wood and Sean Astin, but only in the one for the Fellowship, where those four actors sounded like they were all doing the commentary together. After that, they got boring.
Orlando was a disappointment, because Legolas is totally my boyfriend, but it turns out that Orlando Bloom is kind of boring and doesn't do it for me.
Wow--I'm so happy to find that someone besides me has been watching these things! Everyone I know thinks I'm a huge dork. Which is true, but not about this stuff. :-P

I so agree with you, lol, Mr Hill is the man!
In case you don't know he was in Titanic as Capt. Smith, I've been a fan since than.Glad to find someone who likes him as much.
Have you found the Easter Egg on the DVD yet? There's 2, I won't tell you what they are but I'll tell you this, you'll laugh you're pants off, lol.
