May. 1st, 2004 12:46 amWhen did you write your first "Fanfiction" piece? What was it for?:
It was actually RPS. Fluffy-yet-snarky tame RPS about Mark and Robbie from Take That. What, I was eleven...
Did you actually post it anywhere?:
No, thank god. Though I wish I still had it, it'd be good for a laugh.
What series have you written fanfics for? (both posted stories, and non-posted stories):
Buffy, Angel, Queer as Folk UK. Way back in the distant depths of time, Due South, The X-Files (appalling Mulder/Scully 4eva!!1! shipper fic, thankfully before the internet when I didn't even know anybody else did this) and Star Trek Voyager. Oh, and the Garak/Bashir stuff I used to write in class at age 12 out of sheer frustration at not being able to get my grubby little mits on slash zines. (I had, and probably still have, zine flyers which I sent away to America for - they had story extracts and even for the fandoms I'd never heard of, like Forever Knight, I knew those extracts by heart. I was a tragically hoyay deprived child.)
Any Original Characters (ones that got named) that you had inhabit the series universes? If so- who/where? (yes, this is where we embarrass you by revealing your dark secrets!):
Dex, a college friend of Connor's in All Souls. Everyone but Ethan and Dawn in Silent Upon a Peak in Darien. My original characters tend to get completely screwed over by the canon lot (Dex and her unborn child are brutally murdered; Ethan wrecks everybody's life just by being there)
If you had the chance to have the original creator turn any of your fanfic into an actual real piece, which story would you choose?
Crime and Punishment because I would kill to see Connor and Spike interaction onscreen.
Do you have any weird music quirks that help you write?
Not as such, but I have a bookshelf full of poetry books that spark off ideas quite a bit.
What are common "themes" you hide in your stories?
Reality is not reality, people are not who they seem.
What are your favorite characters to write POVs from?
Fred, because she is me and I can work in a ton of physics references (and justify fic research as 'stuff for class'.) Dawn's always fun. So is Xander.
What story of yours do you wish more people would read and love?
Hmm, I almost always get more feedback than I expect - and sadly I suck at replying to it but I do
If you could pick a specific scene of your story to be made into a comic-book/doujinshi format, what scene from what fanfic would you pick?
It's not a scene but 21 Dreams in Sunnydale and LA was written with a comic in mind - I can't draw worth a damn but I can see exactly what the 21 pages look like. (One of these, the Cordelia one, became a story. The Giles and Jonathan ones are lifted wholesale from unfinished fics.)
And last but not least- Why do you like writing fanfiction?
I love all the characters (I hate that Eve has finally slithered her way into a tiny portion of my heart, or at least my interest). I like putting them together, see how they interact in ways we never got to see on the show.
