Compile, you stupid program! (it's all very well for the computer admin guy to say "just edit the source and compile it, dumbass" - he didn't actually say dumbass, but he did call me stupid - but when you don't in fact know PERL...)

Oh, and apparently it's some sort of turkey and pie holiday occasion in America, so good luck with that to everybody who celebrates *g*

marymac mentioned Neil Gaiman's short story The Problem of Susan, similarly about one of the children and what happened to her after the books, and I'll have to try to track it down.
