Vote vote vote
Nov. 2nd, 2004 01:10 pmI've seen this all over my friends list today but I'm afraid I'm going to have to jump on that bandwagon: if you're in the USA and of legal voting age, please, please vote. No, I'm not American and therefore it's none of mine, but I've been rabidly following this election since the primaries and I'm sitting on pins here waiting for the results. I don't seem to be the only one, either. There are Americans in
marymac's department actually flying home to vote since their overseas ballots didn't come through.
(Ironically, I'm the last person who should be trying to get others to vote. I know next to nothing about the politics of my own country, except that the DUP and Sinn Fein are likely going to have to form a coalition government, which would be hilarious and the possible basis for an Odd Couple style political sitcom. What with the Northern Ireland parliament and all we don't get to vote for the prime minister of the UK, otherwise I'd be campaigning for the Lib Dems. Or Boris Johnson, because I love him in all his incompetence. I've voted in my local elections, even though Ian Paisley's my MP and he will likely continue to get landslide wins in my constituency long after he's died. I'm in DUP heartland and I suspect the counting people look at my SDLP vote and go "whaaaat? Hmm, I'm sure they've just ticked the wrong box. DUP pile for you.")
ETA: if you've already voted - whoever it was for - go you, and I hope you got a sticker. Mm, stickers. And anybody want a drabble, since I'm stuck in labs and the Giles/Anya I'm trying to write for
misbegotten won't come out as anything but very silly? Any characters or pairing, any fandom you think I can write.
