Flashfic

Gah. People posting flashfics early. You're all so organised! I have computer access again, finally, so I'm hurriedly finishing mine. I hoped to get both pairings done, but then I realised there was no earthly way to make my scenario for my second fic work (Jasmine couldn't have exerted her power over Sunnydale because she wouldn't have been born until after Dirty Girls, and after that episode the electricity was out... so, no radio, no TV and no love vibes from a pseudogoddess).

Dammit, my main pairing should be an easy one, but one of the guys wants to make the story all about himself and flat-out isn't co-operating.

My offline friends who I mentioned the flashficathon to - both guys - would have requested:
"Buffy, Wesley and an Angelbot, set before season 4 Angel"
"Spike/Willow set in Vegas"
and "Any pairing so long as Dawn uses a tazer on someone" (that was from Andrew. Dawn tazering Xander in End of Days was his Favourite Scene Ever).

Parapraxis

Mmm. Gorgeously smutty and angsty and so beautifully written. (And it's melted my brain - it took three attempts to spell "beautifully" correctly)

My only complaint is that mine won't be nearly this good, especially as I'm starting from scratch with my original idea. Oh well, that's what I did last time and it came out okay. (The story I was working on just wouldn't work - as marymac pointed out on MSN when I was trying to bash the story into shape, "you're trying to slash an episode where the guys are barely onscreen together". Not to mention that the episode is Tabula Rasa, so there's not even any history between the characters to fall back on.)

JM kerfuffle

As usual, I've missed the kerfuffle about what James Marsters said at whatever con it was, but it keeps reminding me of this year's MeCon (a small, local convention I helped run). I chaired the vampires panel with a comic artist called Paul Holden and within about three minutes the discussion became totally about Buffy. Paul H revealed that his fiancee is both a Spuffy and a redemptionist:

PH: (as fiancee, in silly, girly voice) 'Spike wouldn't hurt anybody. Spike's nice. He has lovely hair. I don't think he'd kill anybody.' (as himself) yes he would, because he's a fucking vampire! (Beat, then, pointing at me) And this one's laughing but you know she's thinking 'it's true. It's so, so true.'

I liked him. He was v. funny.

Flashfic again

So I'm about 500 words into my second attempt. My brain is fried. I hope posting any time on the 11th is okay, because it's 10:45pm here and I'm going to take a break. I should be done by tomorrow afternoon (lunchtime for the US folks, I guess).

The tiny wail of "mine is gonna suck!" has started up in my brain...

ETA: my fanfic reading kink today has been Dawn. Dawn/Xander, Dawn/Tara, Dawn/Wesley.... there's something perverse and wrong about it that I like. I love that there's an archive for all three of those ships.
