As threatened, a Buffy poll, since I'm curious:

[Poll #277287]

My own answers:

1. Once More With Feeling
2. Giles and Xander are tied. I thought Xander was the funniest thing ever, and Giles... :swoon:
3. Buffy/Giles, for about fifteen minutes before the Spuffy kiss at the end (I went in completely blind, knowing nothing about these characters, not even the benefit of the Previouslies to tell me what was what. I think it was viewing three when I went "oh, Spike's a vampire!")
4. Buffy/Wesley, for the first flashficathon.
5. Angel, narrowly edging out Spike and Wes.
6. Once More With Feeling
7. Buffy season 4
8. Angel/Spike smoochies, dammit. A B/X relationship in season 2 or 3. A proper W/X relationship.
9. Angel or Spike becomes the guardian of the deeper well.
10. 8 (this is shameful: I watched it with a group, and kept my composure. Then I herded them out of my room and immediately watched it again. I started crying at "I don't know what I would've done if you'd gone up those stairs" and didn't completely stop till ten minutes after the end credits...)

Man, I can't look at screencaps of Chosen without crying.

Very cool poll, btw.

1-2. I could understand who Anya was, and why was she talking so strangely. I also thought that Buffybot was the permanent feature of the series, and was severely disappointed. Plus, I got hooked on B/S.

8. I really don’t know, and don’t want to expect anything.

On Chosen - it was really good but I did feel let down by two things:

1. They didn't have the First appear to Buffy has Joyce when that would really have been evil and mind-fucky to Buffy. Plus it would have meant Kristine Sutherland got to be in the finale! Damn you Joss!

2. By this point I knew James Marsters was going to be in the next series of Angel, which kinda sucked out any of the dramatic tension of his sacrifice - my fault for not being unspoiled though.

I wish The First could have appeared as Joyce again, too. In the absence of a Joyce spinoff, it's the least Joss could have done...

I actually said that Chosen was a 7 when I meant it was a 9. Ach!

I'll cry when I think about the music from Chosen. We're all pathetic. :)

6 - I want to say something from Angel Season 4, but I don't know how those will hold up on rewatching. So, Prophecy Girl because I've seen it so many times and I *still* love it.

B/X S2 couldn't happen. She's too head-over-heels over Angel.

B/X S3 couldn't happen. When she's available, he isn't and vice versa.

B/X S4 would've meant no Anya. I'd be willing to go with that. It would've forced some of the stupid out of the Initiative. Yay. Still, so much wouldn't have worked.

B/X S5? Nah.

B/X S6? Not twisted enough.

But! Early in, both SMG and NB wanted it, and you can see it starting in "Lessons" and "Beneath You". The way I'd do it is have them really together, then reintroduce Spike, and have that drive a wedge between them. Oh, the angst!

B/X season 4 could also work if Anya was Giles's love interest rather than Xander's. Which would make me a happy bunny.

If you were a happy bunny, Anya would fear you.

But, there's two problems there. First, Giles had nothing to do in S4, and having nothing to do was his arc, leading to such unexpected behavior as open mic night and intercontinental and interracial booty calls and eventually, in S5, the penis car. Second, Anya, physically, is 18 years old, which is young enough to be his kid. Chickenhawking like that would naturally cloud his relationship with Buffy, which, while occasionally presented to others in a somewhat unhealthy way, was nothing but chaste.

I don't think anyone thought about Ganya until "Tabula Rasa", which proves it is right and true.

Did you really understand that Joyce was the First in CwDP? I didn't, and kept waiting for Buffy to choose someone over Dawn until the very last episode. At the end of "Chosen," I was still waiting. I didn't get it until I read an interview by Joss months later telling me. *shrug* I think that is a sign of very poor story-telling, when very large plot points need to be explained because the writer did such a poor job in the first place.

So, how did the First appear to two separate people in two separate places? And if it had that ability, why didn't it use it more often? And if the purpose was truly to turn Dawn against Buffy, why did that creature thing almost kill Dawn before the meeting with Joyce? And did Buffy care enough about Dawn in the last season to notice if Dawn turned against her or not? These are just a few of dozens of questions I have about the last season, because it Made No Sense.

Still, very cool poll. I enjoyed filling it out, even if it did raise up my latent anger at myself for actually sitting all the way through the last season... *grin*

Hee! Yes, there's some impressive multitasking going on on the First's part - it appears simultaneously to Willow and Dawn and either right after or at the same time, it has to appear to Spike in order to activate the trigger.

It raises the question of why it didn't display this kind of efficiency ever again. I mean, I adore the First in all its lovable incompetence, but what *was* its plan? And what was the Beljoxa's Eye on about?

And what was the Beljoxa's Eye on about?

Ooh, another source of bitterness on my part! That had the possibility of being an extremely cool storyline, and it was just... dropped. ARGH! *laughing at self*

I hear ya' (and I liked season 7!) I think my main frustration is *why* introduce it at all if it's never going to be mentioned ever again? Because I don't recall any other point to the Beljoxa's eye scenes.

And why was the First so interested in Spike? (My personal fanwank about Amends was that the First was trying to get Angel to kill himself all along in a pre-emptive strike against the birth of Jasmine, who in turn sent the miracle snow. I'm 99.9999% sure this is absolutely not what was intended, but it makes me happy.)

An asterisk on my #1 ... I watched "OoS, OoM" over the summer and then went back to college and didn't really think about the series again until people started trying to make me watch in S4 or S5. My conversion episode was "Crush."

The first Angel I saw was probably "The Thin Dead Line," but I don't think I had any idea what was going on until "Disharmony."

I notice that a lot of people list Willow as their favourite character early on, but very few list her as a current favourite. Is that because later seasons introduced more compelling characters (i.e. Spike), I wonder? Or just that no one liked her after how she acted in season 6?

Stupid season 6. *kicks season 6 right in the doublemeat palace*

I loved early Willow (so adorable!), but I think it was Wrecked that, well, wrecked her forever for me.

Yeah, I didn't really get it back until she tried to destroy the world. Hey, if I lived in their world, I'd be tempted to blow it up too...8)
