Going to have to rush off now, but a quick update: vanilla_tiger, your Fredfic will be a littttle bit late (stupid non-24-hour library) but I'll post it as soon as I can tomorrow. Looking at what I've got finished of it at the moment, it's, ah, almost certainly not what you're looking for...

The season 4 DVDs are great. The outtakes are fun (love David, JAR and Amy Acker skipping hand in hand down the street). The commentaries are illuminating - too bad for everybody building alternate reality theories around the car being on the wrong side of the road at the end of Home. Tim Minear says they flipped the footage and didn't notice. He also fesses up that they have no clue how Connor can build bombs... (Ooh, and I'd love to have been on set during the filming of Spin the Bottle. The scene where Liam rushes back inside and claims he's just seen demons apparently took hours to shoot because DB and Alexis Denisof couldn't stop laughing, to the point where they were forbidden to look at each other. There are a couple of fluffed takes on the outtakes, including Alexis just folding to the ground in hysterics)

Haven't hooked the new DVD player up to watch but can't wait to enjoy all the extras.

I'll take it from your comments though that there's no outtakes of David and Alexis slipping each other the tongue? ;)

No, dammit. I was eagerly awaiting one. (Although one of the outtakes has Connor saying to either Wes or Gunn something like "you're a fucking asshole, sir" which amuses me greatly in itself. And Joss and Alexis make a joke about Angel/Connor bondage in the Spin the Bottle commentary.)

I hope they're the DB/AD tongueage for their own DVD. Top of the bestseller list, no problem.

[sniff] Pity. I'd hoped that after the nipple twisting tickle sesson from the s3 outtakes that in s4 David would up the stakes. Or maybe he did and they never filmed it ;)

Still, sounds like the comments and outtakes are rocking regardless. Can't wait to set up my player and watch 'em.

Spin the Bottle is one of my fave episodes, I can't wait until I can buy the DVDs and see the outtakes! My favorite part is when Gunn and Wes are fighting and Angel says "It's about time the English got what's comin' to 'em. I'm rootin' for the slave." *giggles*

Are the season 3 DVDs worth the money? I looked into them on amazon and from the sound of it they have less extras than s4 so I'm not sure, especially since I'm not really crazy about a number of s3 eps. But if the bonus material makes up for it... nipple twisting, mmhuh...

The s4 commentaries are terrific, and there's lots. That was a really good deal.

The s3 outtakes are classic, plus you get Vincent and Amy Acker's screentests. There isn't nearly as much commentary as you get in s4 but what you get, IMO, is still good.

Possibly a compromise solution is to check out half.com or something? You might be able to get them at a discounted price so you don't feel like you're wasting money on eps you didn't like.

Just *hearing* about those outtakes/commentaries is making me fall in love with AD, DB and Tim Minear. Because I *alwayas* fall in love with Tim Minear, no matter what. ;D
